Elder Jeffery R. Holland, “Of Souls, Symbols, and Sacraments” said, " may i suggest that human intimacy, that sacred, physical union ordained of God for a married couple, deals with a symbol that demands special sanctity. Such an act of love between a man and a woman is - or certainly was ordained to be - a symbol of total union: union of their hearts, their hopes, their lives, their love, their family, their future, their everything." Intimacy is such a sacred power that should be reserved only for husband and wife. Growing up I knew that it was important to remain morally clean and now that I am married. I really understand what Elder Holland is saying to us. It is such an act of total union that should not be shared with anyone but your spouse.
(Genesis 2:24) God commanded us to multiply and replenish the earth. It is a sacred power of precreation employed only between man and woman, who are lawfully wedded.
(Hebrews 13:4) Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulters God will judge.
For the Strenth of Youth says, We do not believe in having any sexual relations before marriage, and be completely faithful to your spouse after marriage.
Elder Bednar says, Our bodies are central to Gods plan and Satan seeks to frustrate our progression by tempting us to use our bodies improperly.
Elder Holland said, “Human intimacy is a sacred, physical union ordained of God for a married couple…it is a symbol of total union, union of their hearts, their hopes, their lives, their love, their family, their future, their everything.”
Loyalty to your spouse, consideration, and the most important whispering of the Holy Ghost will help you know what is right and to recognize the path that will lead you away from temptation.
Our homes should be kept sacred. Elder Washburn said, “The home is the testing ground. The home is the place where we learn to be more Christ-like. The home is the place where we learn to overcome selfishness and give ourselves in service to others…we go to the temple to make the covenants, but we go home to keep those covenants.
When talking about multiply and replenishing the earth, it made me excited that I have that opportunity with my husband to bring children into our family and to give them a chance to gain a body. I started thinking of that woman who can’t bear children whether for medical reasons or that they aren’t married. It then made me think about how Heavenly Father has a divine plan for all of us and those we don’t have the opportunity to become mothers in this life, will surely have a chance in the next life.
